Discover the Rousseau Trail
Rousseau, who claimed he preferred to be a man of paradoxes rather than a man of prejudices, is not treated here as a rigid monument of the past. The Trail engages with the philosopher’s paradoxes as an invitation to question our present, which he seems to anticipate. The Rousseau Trail does not follow the writer’s biography but instead offers seven thematic niches that confront Rousseau’s work and ideas with the concerns of our time.
At the heart of the Citizen of Geneva’s birthplace, an atypical sensory experience awaits you. Texts, films, photographs, illustrations and musical pieces all come together to offer a new perspective of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s work. The Rousseau Path allows to modernize the philosopher’s thought while confronting it to challenges of our time: education, nature and the environment, secularism, happiness and citizenship. You can discover the Rousseau Path by yourself with a multilingual e-reader. For guided tours we kindly ask you to make your reservation at least one week ahead of your visit.
