For as long as the world has existed, the boat of the dead has presented itself at the Bay of the Dead on certain nights. A powerful voice rises from the bec du Raz, calling the fisherman by name... After 150 miles in Breton waters, the sailors of the Limule return to dry land with music laden with the rage of orcas, the cross swells of the April sea, obscure legends and the eternal rolling of the ship.

Matter 100 was commissioned by the Bimhuis, Amsterdam. With this new project, pianist Kaja Draksler moves towards song and sound, song as form and sound as navigator and generator of ideas. She's interested in using basic harmonic structures, colored and expanded by microtonality, and working with amplification and audio effects to shape the band's sound. Dean Young's poetry, which is sometimes sung, sometimes spoken, oscillates between experimentation and surrealism.
