Camilla Nylund soprano
Orchestre symphonique Bienne Soleure TOBS!
Yannis Pouspourikas conductor
Waltzes, polonaises, arias and polkas by Johann Strauss II, Franz Lehár and Emmerich Kálmán.
The great Finnish soprano Camilla Nylund comes to waltz with us for the transition into the year 2025. This year of 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss Jr. What better way to honour it, and to celebrate entering the second quarter of the 21st century, than with the charming and old-fashioned melodies of the imaginary Vienna that Strauss evokes in our ears? Accompanying his music, along with that of another of this vanished Vienna’s greats, Franz Lehár, is the Orchestre Symphonique Bienne Soleure under the baton of its principal conductor Yannis Pouspourikas. Come join the dance!
In Geneva we remember Camilla Nylund in Rusalka. Around the globe, she’s at home with Strauss and Wagner, but it seems that it’s in the Austrian tradition that the singer has kept one foot. In 2019, she was awarded the title of Kammersängerin at the Vienna Opera – a crowning achievement for a dramatic soprano whose career has been filled with awards and success.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Grand Théâtre after the performance!
