PRIMA FACIE

Tessa is a young and remarkable lawyer, a leading figure at the bar specializing in defending men accused of sexual assault. She wins cases by presenting the best version of her clients and highlighting the flaws or contradictions in the victims' testimonies, until the day when, while she is on the rise, her life is turned upside down.
Prima Facie (a Latin expression commonly used in legal arguments, meaning "at first glance") questions the foundations of the judicial system, about which playwright Suzie Miller, herself a former criminal lawyer, speaks of a "pitifully low" conviction rate for sexual assaults.
The English version of Prima Facie was awarded a Tony Award on Broadway and a Laurence Olivier Award in London.
