Grand Théâtre de Genève is the largest arts venue in French-speaking Switzerland. The De Neuve stage hosts lyrical and dance productions according to the stagione (season) model, as well as concert, recital, and ballet performances. The recently restored Beaux-Arts and Second Empire style building on Place de Neuve is a landmark of Geneva, which can be admired during a daytime stroll or enjoyed for a sublime evening opera.
The Comédie de Genève is a bustling creative place, a theatre open to the city, imagined as a fabulous machine for setting up shows. The theatre’s unique architecture, the contemporary programme, and the fact that a third of the building is dedicated to producing shows, right up to the construction of the sets, make this place a thriving cultural gem in the heart of Geneva. The place also features immersive workshops and numerous special events.
Lying amidst major cultural venues, Cinémas du Grütli is nestled just a stone’s throw from the Grand Théâtre and the Victoria Hall, in a neighbourhood that brings together aficionados of up-and-coming directors, art house films, exciting festivals, and enchanting neighbourhood cinemas. Cinémas du Grütli and the Café du Grütli around the corner are cultural meeting places where Genevans and visitors alike like to meet.
Théâtre de Carouge is a historical venue that has put Carouge on the national as well as international map. After three years of work, the theatre now welcomes audiences in a brand-new building, thought out in detail for a unique artistic experience, which might be compared to “the soul of a violin, the final piece of wood that the craftsperson places at the heart of the instrument and which will determine its sound and vibration.”
